First quarter of 2022, the production and sales of new energy vehicles increased by 1.4 times year-on-year

In March 2022, my country's automobile production and sales fell by 9.1% and 11.7% year-on-year, respectively. The sales of new energy vehicles continued to maintain rapid growth, with a market penetration rate of 21.7%.

 

In the first quarter of 2022, the production, and sales of automobiles in my country have been steadily improving, with year-on-year growth of 2.0% and 0.2% respectively. The production and sales of new energy vehicles both increased by 1.4 times year-on-year.

1. Vehicle sales in March fell 11.7% year-on-year

In March, the production and sales of automobiles reached 2.241 million and 2.234 million respectively, a month-on-month increase of 23.4% and 28.4%, and a year-on-year decrease of 9.1% and 11.7% respectively.

 

From January to March, the production and sales of automobiles reached 6.484 million and 6.509 million respectively, a year-on-year increase of 2.0% and 0.2%, respectively, a decrease of 6.8 percentage points and 7.3 percentage points from January to February.

 

(1) Passenger vehicle sales in March decreased by 0.6% year-on-year

 

In March, the production and sales of passenger vehicles were 1.881 million and 1.864 million, down 0.1% and 0.6% year-on-year, respectively. In terms of models, the production and sales of sedans were 881,000 units and 872,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 2.3% and 0.2% respectively; the production and sales of SUVs were 888,000 units and 876,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 0.3% and 0.1% respectively; MPV production and sales were completed respectively 76,000 units and 71,000 units, down 28.5% and 23.7% year-on-year respectively; production and sales of cross-type passenger vehicles were 37,000 units and 45,000 units, up 39.4% and 34.1% year-on-year respectively.

 

From January to March, the production and sales of passenger vehicles were 5.499 million and 5.545 million, up 11.0% and 9.0% year-on-year respectively. In terms of models, the production and sales of sedans were 2.554 million and 2.584 million, up 11.1% and 8.4% year-on-year; SUV production and sales were 2.650 million and 2.667 million, up 12.7% and 10.4% year-on-year; MPV production and sales were completed respectively 202,000 units and 204,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 15.4% and 7.8% respectively; the production and sales of cross-type passenger vehicles were 94,000 units and 89,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 40.0% and 35.0% respectively.

 

In March, a total of 904,000 Chinese brand passenger vehicles were sold, a year-on-year increase of 21.5%, accounting for 48.5% of the total passenger vehicle sales, and the share increased by 8.8 percentage points year-on-year.

 

From January to March, the cumulative sales of Chinese brand passenger vehicles were 2.547 million, a year-on-year increase of 21.0%, accounting for 45.9% of the total passenger vehicle sales, and the share increased by 4.6 percentage points year-on-year. Among them, sedans sold 923,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 45.2%, with a market share of 35.7%; SUV sales of 1.425 million units, a year-on-year increase of 13.3%, with a market share of 53.4%; MPV sales of 110,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 24.1%, with a market share of 54.1%.

 

(2) Commercial vehicle sales in March fell by 43.5% year-on-year

 

In March, the production and sales of commercial vehicles were 360,000 and 370,000, down 38.0% and 43.5% year-on-year, respectively. In terms of models, the production and sales of trucks were 325,000 and 332,000, down 39.0% and 44.8% year-on-year, respectively; the production and sales of passenger vehicles were 36,000 and 38,000, down 27.9% and 27.8% year-on-year.

 

From January to March, the production and sales of commercial vehicles were 985,000 and 965,000, down 29.7% and 31.7% year-on-year, respectively. In terms of models, the production and sales of trucks were 895,000 and 873,000, down 30.7% and 32.8% year-on-year, respectively; the production and sales of passenger vehicles were 90,000 and 91,000, down 18.5% and 18.7% year-on-year.

2. the sales of new energy vehicles in March increased by 1.1 times year-on-year

In March, the production and sales of new energy vehicles were 465,000 and 484,000 respectively, an increase of 1.1 times year-on-year, with a market penetration rate of 21.7%. In terms of models, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles were 376,000 and 396,000, an increase of 1.1 times year-on-year; the production and sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles were 89,000 and 88,000, an increase of 1.6 times and 1.4 times year-on-year respectively; The production and sales of fuel cell vehicles were completed at 500 and 367 units, an increase of 10.1 times and 5.2 times year-on-year respectively.

 

From January to March, the production and sales of new energy vehicles were 1.293 million and 1.257 million respectively, an increase of 1.4 times year-on-year, and the market penetration rate was 19.3%. In terms of models, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles were 1.036 million and 1.007 million respectively, an increase of 1.3 times year-on-year; the production and sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles were 256,000 and 249,000, an increase of 2.3 times and 2.0 times year-on-year respectively; The production and sales of fuel cell vehicles were 856 and 738 respectively, an increase of 7.2 times and 3.9 times year-on-year respectively.

3. From January to February, the operating income of key enterprises decreased by 0.9% year-on-year

From January to February, the key enterprises (groups) in the automobile industry achieved a total operating income of 625.62 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 0.9%; a total of 65.66 billion yuan in profits and taxes, a year-on-year increase of 16.0%.

4. In March, auto exports increased by 28.8% year-on-year

In March, 170,000 vehicles were exported, a year-on-year increase of 28.8%. In terms of models, the export of passenger vehicles was 121,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 21.8%; the export of commercial vehicles was 49,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 49.8%. The export of new energy vehicles was 16,000, a year-on-year increase of 71.5%.

 

From January to March, 582,000 vehicles were exported, a year-on-year increase of 58.3%. In terms of models, the export of passenger vehicles was 452,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 61.9%; the export of commercial vehicles was 130,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 47.2%. The export of new energy vehicles was 120,000, a year-on-year increase of 2.9 times.
